Learning Support Assistant
Location : Southampton
Part time – on a two weekly rota basis. Monday (AM), Tuesday (AM), Thursday (AM) & Friday (AM)
Week 1: 8.5 hours per week
Week 2: 6.5 hours per week
The Military Preparation College (MPCT) has a highly successful skills department where we aim to create an environment that is positive, supportive and caring for all learners. We aim to build confidence, self-worth and empower learners to take responsibility for their own learning.
All training is delivered through a military theme providing the learner with the opportunity to develop their literacy and numeracy skills in a meaningful manner.
MPCT Learning Support Assistants (LSA) will provide ‘in centre’ and ‘virtual’ support so that learners grow in confidence and progress into their chosen careers.
This position involves learner led funding and will only be funded whilst the individual being supported attends MPCT.
To provide education and organisational support to instructors, guide students during structured and non- structured sessions and assist students to achieve their full potential. You will be a key worker which involves you working on a one to one basis. You will support a Learner with their individual learning programmes and working closely with parents and other agencies.
The Learning Support Assistant will work according to the values and beliefs of MPCT.
• 1-2-1 support for an individual learner in all academic activities. (online and in person).
• Build a positive and trusting relationship with the learner.
• Support reading, writing, comprehensive and speaking and listening skills.
• Break tasks down to enable Learner to manage their workload
• Act as a key person for the learner to talk to about their emotions and difficulties.
Experience in a teaching support role, Microsoft TEAMs and EHCP would be an advantage.
Job Type: Temporary - This position involves learner led funding and will only be funded whilst the individual being supported attends MPCT.
