Director of Membership & Strategy
TWI is looking for a Director of Membership & Strategy to support and guide the organisation in the delivery and development of existing and new services to meet the needs of both our Industrial and Professional members across the World. This will include Member recruitment and retention, business & membership services growth through strategic investment of significant funds, and new business development, including in key markets such as China and Japan.
As a member of TWI’s Executive Team, the Director of Membership & Strategy will work in collaboration with senior colleagues across the organisation to deliver TWI’s corporate priorities and goals.
The key accountabilities include the development and successful implementation of:
•A Membership Services Strategy that delivers continuous improvements to the delivery of services and value to Members.
•An Investment Strategy to optimise the utilisation of the Company’s reserves and property receipts in a manner that extends existing, and adds new, services to better meet the existing and future needs of Members.
•A Business Development Strategy to meet the Company’s growth targets, leading a team of business developers, to ensure they are engaged with industry and TWI’s technology teams, and are effectively managed and skilled to understand evolving Member needs and configure high impact solutions to meet them.
•An Industrial Membership Value Proposition that engages and grows the Membership base as well as provides input into the Members’ Research Programme.
•A UK Regional and complementary Global Growth Strategy, aligning it with current and evolving Government policy in the UK and target overseas markets, to secure funding into operations to subsidise the Members’ Research Programme, existing and new member services and the costs of regional accommodation of equipment and staff.
•A market engagement and key account management plan that delivers long-term business growth.
Success in your application requires:
•An engineering education to degree level, with chartered status in a relevant professional body, and preferably training at a recognised business school.
•Excellent leadership skills gained at board level within a similar field or organisation, and preferably a track record of developing high performing organisations.
•Attuned ambassadorial skills, honed through experience in dealing with, and/or working within, international, national or local governments, and preferably having represented an engineering, research or innovation sector on a European stage.
•Broad networks, senior relationships and a successful track record in dealing with, and winning funding from, international, UK central, and local governments, and preferably experience of Treasury’s green book business case process and the ability innovate policy and funding models to open up new streams of public funding.
•Excellent commercial acumen with a proven ability to maintain and develop business in a changing and challenging global environment, and preferably a successful track record in having been responsible for significant and profitable growth at board level, in a similar sector or research and technology organisation.
•Proven experience of developing and delivering business strategy and implementation plans across service lines, markets and geographies, and preferably a demonstrable track record in investing in new service development and new businesses, as well as mergers and acquisitions.
