About us:

Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting is the world’s only movement for every girl and any girl because we believe that each of them deserves to be the best they can be. Free to make what they want from the Movement, girls learn by doing, make friends and have fun. In safe, local spaces, girls develop the skills and attitudes to change themselves, their communities and our world.

The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) keeps the global Movement thriving, united and growing. We are a volunteer-led global charitable Organisation with Member Organisations in 150 countries, but will be focused on and based within our Member Organisation, Association des Guides du Bénin.

Association des Guides du Bénin (AGB)

The Association des Guides du Bénin (AGB) is the voice of girls and young women, giving them the tools to address issues affecting them in their community and build a better world. AGB is an intergenerational volunteer movement open to all girls and young people across the country, without discrimination of religion, ethnic group or socio-economic background. It offers its members an educational programme that allows them to develop themselves intellectually, emotionally, physically, morally, spiritually and socially, all in the spirit of guiding and solidarity, and respect for each other.

About the Climate Change programme:

Girl Led Action on Climate Change is an exciting new programme which will be designed by WAGGGS and implemented in partnership with local Guiding Associations across sub-Saharan Africa. It aims to increase awareness of climate related issues, support direct adaptation and mitigation action at community or national level and increase future capacity for women to take leadership roles in climate change response.

The programme will focus initially on three countries: Benin, Tanzania and Lesotho, reaching 45,000 girls and young women over a two-year period. Using WAGGGS non-formal educational model, WAGGGS will respond to an urgent need to educate and engage thousands of girls and young women in climate change action.

Purpose:

This role will lead on the development and delivery of the Climate Change programme in Benin, ensuring the programme is adapted to the national context and the needs of AGB. The role involves working closely with volunteers in the AGB project team, trainers, local leaders, Girl Guides and WAGGGS programme staff.
