Supporter Relations Team Requests for Help & Safegaurding Specialist

Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

£23,143 - 27,225

Based in Witney office

  • Do you have a heart for helping Christians facing persecution?
  • Do you want to encourage the church in the UK?
  • Would you like to help bridge the gap between the UK church and the persecuted church?

Open Doors is a Christian charity, part of Open Doors International, a global NGO network which works in over 60 countries to support and strengthen persecuted Christians. Last year the UK base raised approximately £15 million to provide practical support to persecuted Christians such as food, medicines, trauma care, legal assistance, safe houses and schools, as well as spiritual support through Christian literature, training and resources.

We’re looking for a Christian* to join our Supporter Relations Team, to help us honour and build relationships with our supporters and inspire them to continue to support the persecuted church.

As the Requests for Help and Safeguarding Specialist you will still be involved in the regular Supporter Relations Team Member tasks. In addition, you will be responsible for ensuring requests for help from persecuted Christians which come to the UK office are dealt with safely, as far as is possible with the information provided by field. You will also be responsible for ensuring that any safeguarding concerns that come to Supporter Relations are sufficiently dealt with, seeking advice from the safeguarding team when necessary.

You will be responsible for forging deep, long-lasting relationships with supporters across the UK and Ireland in several different ways. The primary communication channels are through the phone (making outbound calls and taking inbound calls), responding to enquiries that come in via email and social networks. There is also the opportunity to develop relationships face-to-face at events and summer festivals.

This role demands outstanding verbal and written communication skills, the ability to engage people from a variety of backgrounds, a keen eye for detail, strong IT skills and the ability to remain organised and administratively tight in a busy environment. Team members also offer to pray with supporters daily, through all channels and as such must have a heart for prayer.

For an informal chat about the role, you’re welcome to contact our Inspire team leader or supervisor on 01993 460015.
