YMCA Leicestershire - Casual Support Worker
We're looking for Casual Support Workers to work within our Housing and Homelessness teams to provide support to the young people who are residents at YMCA Leicestershire and to offer practical support to adults using the Y Advice & Support Centre (YASC)
Position: Casual Support Worker
Salary: £11.67 per hour
Location: Leicester City Centre/ Aylestone
Hours: Zero Hours Contract (As and when required between the hours of 8am – 10pm and weekends)
Closing date: 6th December 2024

About the role:
All support workers within the Housing Support Team provide coaching, advice, support and practical measures required to enable positive progression out of homelessness to young people aged 16 – 25 liaising strongly with external agencies and specialist internal teams such as Complex Needs, Skills Coaches and Safe and Sound project.
Support workers within our Y Advice & Support Centre (YASC) provide advice, one-to-one and practical support for people who are experiencing homelessness and/or vulnerably housed.

About you:
As a Casual Support Worker, you will have excellent interpersonal skills, with evidence of establishing and maintaining good working relationships with both young people, adults and multi-agency teams. You will also have written and oral communication skills as well as a high level of honesty, integrity, confidentiality and the ability to deal with challenging behaviour in a professional manner.

YMCA Leicestershire is a vibrant charity offering supported accommodation for young people aged 16 - 25, adult homelessness services, children’s residential care, sports facilities and The Y Theatre, Leicester’s oldest theatre.
YMCA Leicestershire is the largest voluntary sector provider of accommodation to single homeless young people within Leicester and over the last 10 years has delivered the Leicester City Council contract for delivery of accommodation-based housing related support for young people
Our vision is for every young person to have a safe place to call home and the support they need to create lasting change in their lives.
YMCA Leicestershire’s East Street site consists of 8 accommodation clusters providing 36 units and 13 individual 1-bedroom apartments.
The Aylestone Centre consists of 30 single furnished rooms with shared kitchen and bathroom facilities and 4 self-contained flats across five detached houses. The site also has an education suite and is situated within 17 acres of green belt land.
The Y Advice & Support centre (YASC) is a direct access day centre which provides advice, one-to-one and practical support for people who are experiencing homelessness and/or vulnerably housed.
YMCA Leicestershire has several dispersed properties around the city which accommodate up to 5 young people per house, through our pathway into employment education and training. These young people are independent and in the last stages of our supported accommodation before moving into fully independent living.
