The Fashion Retail Academy (Ofsted outstanding) is a unique, industry led academy. Founded by retail giants, we offer a range of exclusive Fashion courses with unparalleled industry involvement to ensure our students gain the skills and contacts needed to successfully progress to employment.
Supported by and working closely with over 130 fashion brands from high street staples to digital giants and luxury brands, we offer a wide range of specialist fashion Diploma, Degree and Short courses, many of these exclusive to the FRA with start dates throughout the year.
We are currently seeking new Governors. At this time, we are particularly keen to recruit individuals with professional expertise in:
The FRA’s Board of Governors, including the Principal and CEO, has overall responsibility for the Academy, with strategic responsibilities that include:
As the FRA is a Registered Charity, its Governors are also the charity trustees. Additionally, being a Company Limited by Guarantee, its Governors are the Directors of the company. The Board comprises a mix of educationalists, senior executives from industry and other professionals.
The commitment that we expect of a Governor is normally to attend four full Board meetings each year, along with occasional additional special purpose meetings, to join one of the Board’s three subcommittees (each of which typically meets once per term) and to attend occasional events to engage with FRA staff and students, which helps Governors to be connected and informed and to gain further from the experience.
These non-executive roles are unremunerated, but they present a great opportunity to ‘give something back’, the excitement that comes from engaging with emerging talent, and networking opportunities with other retailers and education specialists. Having just agreed our ambition and strategy for the next five years, now is a particularly exciting time to get on board.
The FRA is committed to safeguarding the welfare of our learners. The successful applicant(s) will therefore be required to complete DBS checks.
Black and Minority groups are currently underrepresented and applications from individuals in these groups would be particularly welcomed.
