The Fashion Retail Academy (Ofsted outstanding) is a unique, industry led college. Founded by retail giants, we offer a range of exclusive Fashion courses with unparalleled industry involvement to ensure our students gain the skills and contacts needed to successfully progress to employment.
Supported by and working closely with over 130 fashion brands, we offer a wide range of specialist fashion Diploma, Degree and Short courses, many of these exclusive to the FRA, for students of all ages with start dates throughout the year. Our courses are developed to provide our students with a combination of in-depth Fashion Retail knowledge and hands-on practical work experience in the industry. Most of our full-time courses offer our students a guaranteed work placement with a major high street brand, ensuring our graduates leave with a wide range of skills and experience and the fastest route into work.
To support our ambitious and on-going expansion and diversification plans, we have exciting opportunities available for suitably qualified and experienced academics to join our expanding Higher Education team as Associate Lecturers. We are currently seeking Associate Lecturers to teach workshops in Digital, Social Media, Photoshop and Excel.
Ideally we would like someone who has industry experience and HE teaching experience in this area.
Module Description:
In Digital and Social Media, students will learn about innovative and visionary contemporary new media communications campaigns used to generate sales and awareness for fashion retail.
Study Block:
End of January 2022 to End of April 2022
The Associate Lecturer will plan, organise and deliver exceptional teaching activities for a module, ensuring every student receives the highest quality teaching, learning and feedback, successfully preparing them for roles in industry. The Associate Lecturer will be responsible for leading on the delivery and creation of industry relevant module content, in line with the course and wider programme objectives.
Successful candidates will have a good understanding of the fashion industry, its structure, key functions and the factors affecting its development and sustainable success.
Good knowledge of the other specialist areas through teaching in HE and working within the Fashion and Retail Industry is also desirable.
This role is suited to a subject specialist who is passionate about delivering a highly industry relevant and student centred curriculum. You must have advanced knowledge and previous experience of teaching within a Higher Education environment as well as substantial and relevant fashion industry professional experience.
The successful candidate will have strong people skills and the ability to lead, motivate and collaborate with colleagues to ensure the effective development and delivery of the module. Ideally you will have a degree in Fashion Business, Marketing, Retail or Management or a related subject. You must have the ability to organise and plan work, set priorities, and respond to pressures, deadlines, and changes in schedules as well as have excellent IT and digital skills. A strong awareness of safeguarding is also required for the role.
