Functional Skills Tutor 
Permanent 
Part-Time - 18.5 hours (0.5 FTE), 2.5 days per week.
London, West End / Teaching will be hybrid, and includes travel to employer premises 

About the role 

We are currently looking for an experienced Functional Skills Tutor who will plan, teach and support apprentices to complete their Functional Skills English and Maths qualifications. They will achieve this through delivering classroom (face-to-face and online) and workplace-based sessions as well as through small group, individual and tailored 1-2-1 support. The role also involves UK wide travel on a regular basis to our retail clients’ premises.  

The post holder will be supported to plan, design, and deliver sessions to maximise student progress in a professional setting and to create the best imaginable learning journey and be at the forefront of delivering a tailored and forward-looking curriculum for every learner. 

About you 

  • The successful candidate will have experience of delivering best practice and creating an inspirational classroom environment, both group and 1-2-1 sessions (face-to-face and online), with the aim of maximising learner progress and enhancing each learner's experience. 
  • It is essential that you have a comprehensive understanding of Functional Skills Maths and English curricula and examination processes, with considerable teaching experience of Maths and English.  
  • You will have a positive attitude, be flexible in your approach and absolutely committed to the best outcomes for your students. 
  • Excellent organisational, communication and time management skills are essential for this role. 
  • Ideally you will have worked with a similar cohort of Apprentices to the EFI, have a further education background or have worked in a college or high school.  
  • Relevant experience of the retail industry will be an advantage.

Salary: 

Part-Time - From £16,200 to £20,500 per annum (FTE 0.5), subject to qualifications and experience
