About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Systems Support Technician to join our IT Team. The Systems Support Technician will be responsible for maintaining the effective operation of the infrastructure and systems and form part of the service desk support function aligning with the support of our organisation’s staff, students, systems and infrastructure.

The Systems Support Technician will monitor infrastructure support calls, ensuring a prompt and effective response from receipt to closure. A core duty will be to aid the Infrastructure Manager in the identification of service improvements, working proactively to mitigate predictable issues before they arise and to reduce reliance on the service.

The Systems Support Engineer will be the primary point of expertise on the Organisation’s technology estate and software systems. Including expertise on networking solutions and systems. They will also be expected to develop and maintain the detailed knowledge their operation required to meet business need. The post holder will be expected to work closely with other teams in the Academy, delivering first class support services.

About you

  • You will have demonstratable experience in a network or server support role.  
  • You will have previous experience in a customer facing role communicating with customers face to face, over the phone and via email and have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience deploying software or security packages and updates to servers or end user devices and with DNS, DHCP & WAN/LAN networking is essential for the role.
  • You will have strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • You will have excellent knowledge of Microsoft systems, including Office 365.
  • A detailed understanding of networking fundamentals (IP addressing and subnets, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, and basic routing) is essential for the role.
  • You will be a natural collaborator and team player.
  • You will have an adaptable and confident approach to meet the challenges of a fast-paced environment and be a proactive and self-motivated individual.

Salary:

From £26,550 to £29,500 per annum, subject to qualifications and experience.
