Business in Focus delivers several contracts on behalf of Welsh Government, National UK Government, Local Authorities, and provides other commercial consultancy and property services. Business in Focus requires dedicated Marketing and Communications support to ensure that its services are clearly communicated and presented in the marketplace.

The Marketing & Communications Executive reports to the Head of Marketing & Communications. The role works closely with a variety of delivery teams to provide a high-quality marketing and communications service that attracts and engages clients and stakeholders to support the delivery of our contracts and to develop the Company’s brand.


Key Responsibilities

  1. To ensure that marketing activities, e.g. coordinating and organising events, running campaigns for business initiatives and promotions, writing and publishing case studies, etc. are managed to prescribed timetables, deadlines and on budget. 
  2. Proactively liaise with all relevant stakeholders, e.g. Welsh Government, clients, consortium members, etc. to maintain compliance with prescribed guidelines and agree content prior to release and publication. 
  3. To support the Head of Marketing & Communications in the design and implementation of marketing plans for different work streams.
  4. In conjunction with Head of Marketing and Communications, develop national and regional marketing collateral for use by delivery teams, e.g. flyers, visual aid templates for presentations.
  5. To support the implementation of brand awareness measures to promote the development of the Business in Focus brand.
  6. To design and implement social media activity to support various work streams and profile raising activities.

What You'll Bring

  • A professional Marketing qualification, e.g. CIM Certificate in Marketing or higher
  • Working towards a professional Marketing qualification
  • Proven work experience with good CPD activities to support development and knowledge in operational Marketing role

EPC has won the contract to deliver the Business Wales service on behalf of the Welsh Government, providing advice and support to entrepreneurs pan-Wales.

The Entrepreneurship and Start-Up Service focuses on providing a wide range of advice to young people and start-up businesses through a variety of means including digital, telephone and face to face support.

EPC was successful in their bid to deliver both Business Wales advice services; Entrepreneurship and Start-up Service (ESU) and Business Development and Growth Service (BDG).

Support pan Wales delivery of the Business Wales service. To process enquiries into the service model, providing information, signposting and referring to internal and external stakeholders. To provide client relationship management support to the Community Engagement, Start-up Assessors & Start-up advisory teams.

Responsibilities

  1. Act as the first point of contact for client enquiries, undertaking initial diagnostic to accurately determine eligibility for support and growth potential along with any additional client needs, referring and processing each enquiry accordingly, e.g. refer to appropriate level/specialist in delivery model, etc.
  2. Where appropriate provide information, signpost and/or make referrals to specialist partner organisations and intermediaries as appropriate, documenting in accordance with procedures and within prescribed timescales.
  3. Work with Advisers & Start-up Assessors to maintain client relationships, supporting clients during the client journey at prescribed intervals. Cross-refer to retain engagement with the service or signpost to external partners as appropriate, and review client satisfaction.
  4. Undertake the accurate management of client data ensuring all activity is recorded on IT systems and intervention outcomes are evidenced and documented compliantly.
  5. Undertake duties to a high standard of customer service in a professional and timely manner. Maintain good knowledge and understanding of public and private sector support and services available for SMEs for the region.
  6. Support the Registration Support Team Leader by identifying and making recommendations for continuous improvement, e.g. procedures, systems of work.

Person Specification

  1. Working in a support services team to undertake high volume of client enquiries and deliver an effective service to a high standard of customer service
  2. Working under pressure to achieve team targets/regional objectives
  3. Working within an environment that requires accuracy, to be compliant to prescribed internal and external audited standards and procedures
  4. Good understanding of how small local businesses operate and the needs of SMEs in the context of the regional economy

The Senior Marketing & Communications Officer reports to the Head of Marketing & Communications.

The Senior Marketing & Communications Officer is responsible for executing a variety of marketing campaigns to generate brand awareness, support delivery teams and increase leads.

This is a hands-on role encompassing the full marketing mix where you will be required to run campaigns with a strong emphasis on direct marketing to segmented audiences using on and offline channels.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Manage a wide variety of end-to-end marketing campaigns to drive awareness and leads, including planning, segmentation, creative and execution.
  2. Assist in the formulation and implementation of digital marketing activities.

  8. Write long form blogs and press releases that are optimised for SEO and our target keywords.

About the role

As a Senior Business Adviser, you’ll support clients ready to launch and grow their businesses by:

  • Advising on early-stage and pre-start-up business issues.

  • Leveraging your professional network to drive impactful business connections.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Strong knowledge of starting and growing a business, including financial management, funding options, marketing, and legislation.
  • Ability to develop effective action plans, manage client expectations, and drive towards measurable outcomes.
  • Experience working in regional/national business ecosystems, with sound commercial acumen.

Desirable:

  • Sector-specific knowledge or experience.
  • Welsh language skills (highly desirable).
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Provide Welsh SMEs a consistent means of accessing Apprenticeship and Skills support. Facilitate access to various Apprenticeship and skills support programmes and support available.

Develop strong network of internal and external stakeholders to build and share product knowledge, establish cross-referrals, promote Apprenticeships, Skills Gateway and wider Business Wales services.

The Apprenticeship programme is a separate program run on behalf of Welsh Government alongside the Business Wales service.

Responsibilities

  1. Review and analyse the ‘Apprenticeship & Skills’ enquiries from the BW Apprenticeship, Skills and Training programme campaign, completing a diagnostic to identify the business’ current Apprenticeship and/or Skills required.
  2. In collaboration with Business Advisers, examine in detail the elements and requirements of client businesses in order to understand the business strategic objectives and priorities and opportunities for growth, with specific reference to the effective development of Apprenticeships, Skills, learning and development of the workforce.
  3. Record all actions in a ‘Apprenticeship Action Plan’. Accurately complete action plans/template and related paperwork. Ensure support delivered is documented and stored on the Apprenticeship database.
  4. Make referrals and facilitate access to National and Regional Apprenticeships as well as applicable Skills support programmes and other initiatives, e.g., Jobs Growth Wales+, Working Wales, and ReAct+.
  5. Manage portfolio of clients, undertaking follow up calls in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the information given, apprenticeship opportunities and skills programme e.g., impact on productivity levels, achievement of business priorities and strategic objectives.
  6. Ensuring all data and business metrics required to evaluate the service and meet the requirements of WG funding are maintained in line with agreed protocols
  7. Attend events to introduce and promote the Apprenticeships and the Business Wales service to potential beneficiaries, strategically important companies, and partners.
  8. Networking with intermediaries; including business support colleagues, Apprenticeship and employment provision suppliers and Skills and employment related networks, in order to develop the network of Specialists to be able to provide the best brokerage advice based on the customer’s requirements
