We are looking for a Relief Assistant Manager to work on a flexible basis at our Charity Shop in Stonehaven.

Archway is an Aberdeen based charity providing respite and permanent care for children and adults with learning disabilities.

Responsibilities would include the day to day running of the shop when the managers are off and leading a team of volunteers.

Location: Dyce, Aberdeen (Residential Respite Service)

Our respite service in Dyce provides fun, safe, enjoyable, quality respite visits for children and adults with learning disabilities.  As well as supporting individuals with all aspects of daily living such as personal care, medication and meal preparation our respite users like to make the most of their respite visit so you will also support them to participate in a variety of outings and activities, both within the respite service and out with.

Our current shift patterns at our Dyce respite service are usually based on a three-week rolling rota with a requirement to work a mixture of early, late and weekend shifts, including sleepovers.

This opportunity is benefitted for candidates with similar experience or someone who has care experience and looking for a fast-paced environment. You do not need extensive qualifications to begin your career with us. If you are caring, share our values, possess a positive attitude, and consistently strive to perform at your best, this role could be ideal for you. We offer an excellent induction and training programme that will equip you with all the necessary skills, as well as on-the-job qualifications. A full UK drivers licence would be advantageous for this role.

Our services include permanent care, residential respite, supported living and care at home.

Our roles are interesting, varied, and while undoubtedly demanding at times, providing person-centred care and support is hugely rewarding. Experience is of course advantageous, however, those with transferrable life skills will be considered, where they can demonstrate how they could enable our service users to get the most out of their lives. This will include supporting people with all aspects of their daily living, including personal care, medication support and housework as well as supporting individuals with their hobbies and interests and getting out and about.

  • Demonstrate a strong team ethic, share our values, have a positive attitude, and strive to do your best every day
  • Can demonstrate strong communication skills – written and verbal with effective interpersonal skills
  • Are able and willing to work shifts, including evenings and weekends.  Some of our services require sleepover cover too
  • Are willing to undertake any relevant training and to put learning and development into practice
  • Hold a care related SVQ/or equivalent qualification, or the ability and willingness to achieve the qualification(s) within a specified timescale
